As a former Boston driver, it took me a while to understand how San Diego drivers behave. The habit that astonished me most was that they wait in orderly lanes prior to the exit ramp to get off the highway. In other words, they don’t cut in at the last minute to make their exit.
Recently I saw something even more amazing. On a drive through Oceanside, I turned onto a street called Foussat Road. It has a rather steep decline. I shook my head when I saw this road sign.
I wondered what could this be. A rest area for a massage? A place to pet a golden retriever? Someone selling herbal tea or dispensing Valium? Nope. It was a set of structured breaks in the road that required a tight passage through the break thereby slowing down your vehicle and calming the traffic. No massage or dog, but I was still quite impressed. Click on the image below to see better details. Photo courtesy of google maps.
