Okay, there are more scary monsters than the Halloween Candy Monster, but you know what I’m talking about. It’s the monster that attacks you in the grocery store. My Vons, in fact, has three monsters: one set at the front door, one over by produce, and one in the normal seasonal aisle.
What I hate about this monster is I have to deal with it for such a long time. No one wants to buy Halloween candy two months early. So why is it there? We all know why! Because they want us to buy it now and eat it now and have to buy more.
In my younger days, Halloween meant candy corn. Now it is all about Reese’s Snack Mix. Put sugar and salt together and I’m all in. When it is not Halloween, I substitute salted caramel gelato. So I confess, I’ve started looking for my favorite treat but have been strong and resisted.
Last Halloween, four kids rang the doorbell. The children. I need to stock up for them.
Happy Halloween everyone and watch out for the monster!
