Recently, I set my car radio to play some Nathaniel Rateliff music. When “S.O.B.” finished, a song called “Big Booty Woman” by Black Joe Lewis came on next. I admit I did some major chair dancing in my car. Awesome guitars, drums and horns in this song.
As soon as I got home, I looked him up. He’s an American blues, funk and soul artist influenced by Howlin’ Wolf and James Brown. He formed Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears in Austin, Texas, in 2007. In March 2009, Esquire listed them as one of the “Ten Bands Set to Break Out at 2009’s SXSW Festival (thank you Wikipedia).
There is so much energy in his music, you can’t help but move to its beat. Here’s the link to “Big Booty Woman” from his 2009 Album “Tell’em What Your Name Is”! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qadqgD04Hpw
