2019 – A Year of Music Memories

Looking back at 2019, I recall an informal pact I made with a friend several years ago. We decided no more excuses if our favorite artists/legends/performers came to town. The source of this pact was a missed opportunity to see Prince. My friend and I are huge fans. When he came to San Diego in 2013, the tickets were very expensive as he was performing at a small venue. We thought we had plenty of time to see him in the future. We never got that chance. A few years later on a trip to Las Vegas, we made sure to see Elton John.

2019 has been a terrific year of music. The highlights for me were:

Andrea Bocelli singing “Fall On Me” with his son Matteo

Paul McCartney and his band performing “Live and Let Die”

The B-52s (with Berlin) – it will always be “Love Shack” baby

The Black Keys – every single song

Madonna’s Madame X tour – more a musical than concert

Interesting side note, Madonna is sixty one. The last time I saw her we were both thirty one. Her energy level is still amazing, but unfortunately she injured herself and had to cancel the last show of her North American tour. Madonna allowed no cell phones at her concert, but I did get a shot of the marquee outside the venue.

What I love about seeing a live concert is the power and energy that surrounds you. It can’t be duplicated in any other way. I hope 2020 brings some music magic to all of us. Is that Lady Gaga I see coming to Las Vegas?

Happy New Year!
